- In
mid December 2006 we all took off for a weekend of eating and
drinking in Krakow , poland expecting snow. surprise, surprise,
it was like spring apart from sunday as you can see from the
pictures below.

-
- Iris, Ginette and Brenda take the market by storm
as they do their Christmas shopping

-
-
-
- and in 'Angel Street' during the evening
-
- The market square below
was a mass of stalls selling everything for Christmas

- and the carriages left the square
for a tour of the old town.

-
The little boy has difficulty choosing his sweets
from one of the well stocked stalls and it was just as bad for
us trying to select the Christmas decorations.
-
- Buskers and art galleries abound
-
- The inner man was well carred for with barbecues
and very alcoholic mulled wine,

-
-
- Entertainment in the square by a childrens choir
and traditional dancers
- and even Santa asked his elves to join in.
-
-
- A tour to the salt mines was very interesting
with extraordinary carvings.
-

-
-
-
- and this was followed by a trip to Auchwitz

- Finally we all sat down for a meal.

-
- In spite of all the
hectic activities in Poland we still had energy left for our
Christmas party meeting a few days later

- The competition to dress a bottle was won by Iris
seen above in her studious pose

In November 2005 the
society travelled to Berlin where a weekend was spent in debauchery!

-
-

After sussing out the statue and Brandenburg
Gate it was off to the nearest bar for a drink
- The Balvarian meal organised by Ray
went down
- a treat but I don't know why he was
laughing, he's the Treasurer.

-
- In Germany it's litres not pints that Graham
is most happy with.
-
- Wendy and Paul keep the Germans smiling.
-
-
- Part of the Berlin wall is just made
for posing.
-
-
- In June 2006 we visited
Bath Ales Brewery for a few tasters with a bread and cheese supper
afterwards
